Challenge

Working with NYC Open Data meant dealing with massive, messy, and inconsistent datasets. I had to filter thousands of entries, clean incomplete records, and restructure categories in a way that made sense for a public-facing visualization.

Solution

I built a custom JavaScript pipeline to extract, filter, and reorganize the data into clear variables that could drive interactive behaviors. From there, I designed a bold visual system using color blocks, contrast, and heavy type to give weight to the numbers—letting users feel the scale of the issue at a glance.
